Methacton senior Hana Nouaime won the PAC singles championship on Sept. 22, following her older sister’s, Dina Nouaime’s, footsteps, who was Methacton’s most recent PAC singles winner in 2018.

Nouaime defeated Boyertown’s Clemence Terryn with clean sweeps of 6-0, 6-0. Spring-Ford’s Evelyn Mejia fell 6-1, 6-4 to Nouaime in the semifinals. Next, facing her close friend Allison Root of Owen J. Roberts in the finals, Nouaime won again in two sets, 6-2, 6-1, earning her the gold medal.

The wind was a factor on the Perkiomen Valley courts this year, but Nouaime was able to get command.

“Once I found my strokes a bit more, I was confident in hitting my shots. It definitely worked out,” said Nouaime, adding that she felt that her hits were well-timed.

Other players representing Methacton at PAC singles included junior Anika Suresh and senior Lauren Montgomery. Suresh finished fifth, earning herself a spot in the district tournament to be held Sept. 29-30 at the Springfield YMCA. Losing to Mejia in the quarterfinals 0-6, 1-6, she was able to fight back in the fifth-place match against Perk Valley’s Cindy Li 6-4, 6-2. She then defeated Terryn 10-2 in the fifth-place play-in.
