Laughter, stories, and lots of drama, Methacton’s third annual Dramafest has concluded this year with a special celebration. The event featured six plays written by Thespian Society seniors:
P.E.R.I.L by Abigail Drummond, The End of an Era by Chloe Whitney, Crash Chorus by Leighton Castellano, Finnley Mannor by Amelia Heiser, Frats, Facts, and Phobias Alike by Leah Thress and Amelia Syx, and Dear Anthony by Leighton Castellano.
Following the plays, the group welcomed 15 more students into Troupe #4449 of the International Thespian Society. Each inductee was called up to receive their certificate, pin, and an official membership card. The seniors got a cord to wear at graduation.
ITS is “the only theatre honor society for middle and high school students in the United States. Affiliation brings credibility and distinction to students, theatre programs, and schools. It is a visible, positive symbol of the quality of your theatre program”. Its purpose is to recognize the excellence and dedication someone shows to the performing arts.
Group members endure late-night rehearsals and seek to perfect their lines on their paths to make themselves thespians. It’s not just about checking boxes and earning points to get in, but the love for art and bringing characters to life. Being part of this group connects one to a community of theater kids and gives them the chance to earn scholarships for what they love.
