The Warrior Performance Group will perform its annual showcase on March 27 at 7 p.m. in the high school’s auditorium. The event will feature dancing, poetry and songs that discuss issues such as today’s cultural issues.Â
Carmen Bibian, one of the club’s officers, said she thinks the audience will enjoy the performance for a number of reasons.Â
“I think the audience will enjoy our group dances, as well as the poem No Longer Silent which is about the women’s suffrage movement in the US,” Bibian said, who added a few additional thoughts on the show.
“This showcase portrays, primarily women’s rights through different performance mediums, such as song, dance, and poems, which I think will keep the audience entertained. The performers also keep their energy high so that the audience stays entertained. Overall, the messages sent throughout the showcase give a voice to those who might not feel comfortable standing up for themselves, and also bring light to problems in our society, which I think the audience will relate to.”
Group dance numbers will include the titles Brave and Born this Way. Brave showcases bullying and displays how unity can solve that problem. The same dance number also and promotes inclusivity.Â
Born this Way is a dance routine that embraces a person’s inner self and focuses on lifting up others.Â
You will be Found is a song from the hit musical Dear Evan Hansen that will be featured at the showcase as well. During that number, WPG performers will sing and also use sign language to portray the message that people are not alone. The routine also pushes the sentiment that good will always come.
WPG is collecting period products that will be donated to the Mitzvah Circle. Anyone who brings products will be granted free admission to the performance.Â
