Methacton Unified Track is set for Another Season

Methacton Unified Track is set for Another Season

Another season of Methacton Unified Track is about to start as they head to Springfield on April 11th for their first meet of the season. Following Springfield, they head to Perkiomen Valley on the 16th of April and finally host both Upper Merrion and North Penn on May 2nd. All meets start anywhere from 3-3:30 depending on how quickly teams can arrive. Methacton’s first unified season was in 2018-19 so they are onto their 5th full season (no 2019-20 season due to the pandemic).

The full roster was released earlier in March and is listed below:

A lot of turnovers from the Unified Bocce team were observed with members such as Allison Conrad, Catherine DeMontaigne, Taylor Lee, Alex Greenawalt, Joycelyn Tjoe, Justin DiFillippo, Brianna Katz, Gus Mandracchia, and Joseph Mascaro. 

Some of the athletes will also participate in the Special Olympics at SpringFord. Additionally, some athletes went to the Penn Relays at North Penn High School to participate in different track and field activities that they were best at.

Unified Track is partnering with Best Buddies, Multicultural, Asian Student Association, BSU, and GSA clubs for Inclusion and Diversity Week from April 8th to 12th. The spirit days are listed below:

 

Monday: “Spread the Word…Inclusion”  

Wear Blue or Black to help spread Inclusion Awareness

Students will sign the “Pledge for Inclusion” at all lunches

 

Tuesday: “We are Methacton!”

Wear Green or White to show that we may all be different in some ways, but we are all unified as a Methacton Community 

 

Wednesday: “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink” 

Wear your Pink and invite everyone to sit with you… at Methacton everyone is included

Listen to the Warrior News about removing stereotypes 

 

Thursday: “Cultural Pride Day” 

Wear country colors, flag, or traditional cultural garb as we honor our heritage and show our diversity 

 

Friday:  “Everything but a Backpack Day” 

Carry your belongings using everything but a backpack

 

Unified Track has a total of 65 members with just 27 student-athletes for this 2024 Spring season. Good Luck to the team for the season!
