With only a single loss in their season so far, Methacton’s football team made a strong win at home against Upper Perk on September 15th. Anthony Perillo, who missed the first two games, has come back in big fashion, plus QB Kolby Howarth had 2 rushing TDs. Senior running back, Wes Conover, had a passing TD and a rushing TD, and he was the target of all completed passes from Kolby Howarth receiving 117 yards. Captain Collin O’Neal remarked, “We had a solid week of practice… just a great team effort.”
Levi Borkowskiy told me, “Kid’s a demon, I mean, you can’t stop him,” in response to the dominant performance by Perillo. O’Neal said, “Noel (Perrilo’s nickname) is one of our biggest assets on both sides of the ball, glad to have him back.” Nick Remish was asked about Howarth’s leadership and 2TDs and he responded with, “I think it’s a big part of our game on offense behind the ball leading us downfield, and in the running game, he’s really good.”
The Warriors rushed for 272 yards, making 389 yards total, allowing only 150 yards from Upper Perk and just four completed passes. It also marks the first game with no turnovers as Methacton recovered their only fumble.
On the defensive side, captain DJ Ballinger was a star with not one, but two interceptions, forcing ⅔ of the Perkiomen turnovers. Shane Corne was once again on the sack list, continuing to dominate on the defensive line. Tipping 1 of the 2 INTs from Ballinger was Nick Remish. That tip led to an all-time, Odell Beckham Jr.-esque catch. Here is Remish during the postgame interview, “I think it really changed the momentum of the game… gave us the ball back in the first half and let us score.”
The Warriors scored four straight TDs to start the game, then two more after they let one up. They head to Norristown, who have a season score of 0-4, next Friday for a PAC Liberty division matchup. Currently, they sit tied second with Perk Valley and Spring-Ford, two teams they play in the next month. The heat is on!
