The Methacton Baseball season is underway after the Warriors took down Upper Moreland on March 19. The day marked the start of the Warriors quest to the PAC Championship, looking for just their third in the school’s history.
Methacton beat the Bears from Upper Moreland 7-2 on opening day at Robert Childress Memorial Field. Here are some of the notables:
Game Recap
Evan Jones was on the bump to start the season. Jones struck out his first batter, walked the second, and forced a double play to get out of the inning. The Warriors got on the board quickly as

Tommy Kratz singled and scored leadoff batter Liam Greenberg. Greenberg singled just past the first baseman, then stole second–something to look forward to from him a lot this season–and advanced to third on Carmine Maro’s ground out.
Evan Jones ended up earning the victory by going four strong innings, giving up one hit and striking out six. Chase Nolan threw two no-hit innings in relief and struck out three. Offensively the Warriors were led by Jones, Greenberg and Nick Remish who had two hits each. Greenberg added an RBI and two runs scored.
Batting Order:
This is how the Warriors lined-up against Upper Morland:
- Liam Greenberg (LF)
- Carmine Maro (2B)
- Tommy Kratz (1B)
- Nick Remish (3B)
- Chase McNally (CF)
- Bryce Lohsen (SS)
- Evan Jones (P)
- Cam Serafin (RF)
- Chase Nolan (DH)
- Dom Lamafa (C)
Last year, Tripp Shytle started at second, but in most games Maro replaced him sometime after the third inning. Tommy Kratz moved to first base from right field after the team lost Casey Behan to graduation. Cam Serafin is now in right field. For the first time, Wake Forest commit Evan Jones will be batting. Typically, he just pitched. Liam Greenberg will now bat leadoff, coming from the bottom of the order last season. He was a key piece in balance in the lineup, keeping the opposing team worried at all times. Greenberg replaces Kratz who batted leadoff last season. Kratz will now move to the three hole with Remish in the cleanup spot.
Pitching:

On the mound this season the Warriors will primarily have Evan Jones and Nick Trigone starting. Will Christian will be injured for the entirety of the season, coming off of his complete game shutout win in the PAC championship against Phoenixville. Chris Sander and Colin Carr join the varsity squad full time this year, and Chase Nolan returns. Nolan started his first game last season at home against Boyertown when Methacton played four games in four days, due to all the early spring rain cancellations. Luke Voit, Remish and Kratz may get time on the bump as well, depending on rest.
Next up:
Due to Monday’s rain cancellation, Methacton will now face Lansdale Catholic on March 27. The Owen J. Roberts game on Wednesday, March 26, and Spring-Ford on Friday, March 28, remain as scheduled. Methacton fell on the road to OJR last season, but ten-run ruled them at home, when OJR was number one in the district rankings. These two have started a rivalry over the past few years. Kross Howarth took on Tyler Deitrich on the mound two seasons ago at Methacton, now known as the game with the most scouts in Methacton baseball history. Tyler Lohsen won the game after a double in the tenth inning and an OJR throwing error. The Wildcats fell to Phoenixville in the semi-finals of the PAC tournament last year who Methacton went on to beat, 2-0 in the championship game.
