On October 20th, 2022 12 boys teams competed in the annual PACS Championship at Heebner Park. Over both the Varsity race and Junior Varsity race, the team performed phenomenally.

Overall, the team placed 3rd in the Varsity race out of 78 total runners. Evander Lackman placed 5th with a time of 17:14, Matt Sandner placed 9th with a time of 17:34, and Charlie Reith placed 16th with a time of 17:42. Other runners Quinn Kumfert, Akhil Yeluri, Tyler Rifkin, and Ben Freece also scored phenomenally for the competition. The Varsity team beat their long-time rivals of Owen J Roberts but lost to Springford and Perkiomen Valley.

Following the Varsity race, the boys took 2nd place overall in the Junior Varsity race as well as the first place runner for JV. Jackson Harris took the gold with a time of 18:14. Thomas Hazelton also ran a blowout performance, placing 5th with a time of 18:42, making the district’s team, something unheard of for a freshman runner. Overall, the JV team lost to Springford by only 13 points, a very close race compared to other teams.

The team was happy with their performance but complained about the race day conditions. Captain Evander Lackman complained that during the Varsity race, the high wind speed made it incredibly challenging to keep pace. The temperature also dipped to a chilly 59 degrees Fahrenheit, making it hard to warm up.

Despite the setbacks, the team pulled through and had a great time overall.

The season has been great for the boys so far and they hope to continue this into their last few races.
