Methacton History Bowl Attends Competition at Princeton

By Annie Zhang, Staff Writer

The History Bowl club attended National History Bowl’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at Princeton University in March.

The junior varsity team, made up of freshmen Jason Zhao and Owen Fazzini and sophomores Jack Cavanaugh, Josh Hine, Everett Weaver, and Joe Kaminetz, advanced to the semi-finals.

Both varsity teams, made up of juniors Alexa Lawrie, Cecilia Weaver, Joanna Zheng, Andrew Sassi, Angelo DePeppe, Vincent Zhang, Andrew Wang, Reese O’Brien, Anna Kaminetz, and Kaushik Srinath advanced to the octo-finals.

The annual competition at Princeton serves as a qualifier for the National History Bowl’s international competition held in Washington, D.C. each summer. All three Methacton History Bowl teams qualified previously at the Wilmington Friends School competition in January and will be attending the international competition this month.

History Bowl tests students’ knowledge of historical trends, figures and facts through a quiz-style competitive format. The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mr. Alzamora’s room.
