The Methacton Theatre Company performed A Midsummer Night’s Dream from Nov. 9-11.

Written by William Shakespeare, the comedy features the marriage between Theseus, the Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta, queen of the Amazon; Hermia, who is conflicted by the love of Lysander and Demetrius; and the mischievous fairy, Puck. MTC’s version of the play will feature a number of dance numbers as well.

Senior Zack Martin, who played Puck, talked about everything that goes into a performance such as this one.

“There’s acting, there’s dancing [and] there’s also a whole tech crew that’s there every day. There is so much that goes into a production like this.”

Senior Cole Moore, who played Theseus and Oberon, said one of the more significant challenges of a Shakespearean play is the language.

“That really stops the flow of the show. Understanding what you’re saying is the biggest hinderance,” said Moore.

In addition to looking forward to this production, seniors looked back on their body of work with MTC.

“It’s so bittersweet. Leaving the company is going to be very, very difficult for us to say the least. We will miss all of the shows that we’ve done, all the people we’ve met along the way, just being in such an amazing leadership position and being able to lead such an amazing group of people,” said senior Kira Kappler, who played Snout.
