On Monday, Sept. 30th, Methacton held its third DECA meeting officially preparing to compete at a competitive level. The club is co-founded and co-led by juniors Rasika Sivakumar, Gautam Harsha, and Alyssa Sardo. The idea of the club was inspired by the DECA chapters of many schools nearby that have produced many successful students in college and careers post-graduation. Sivakumar expresses that “there was some initial confusion when submitting applications to start the club regarding who the sponsor would be, but I think the co-officers were very productive during the summer which helped resolve any issues and organize everything before meetings started”. Meetings focus on teaching/testing students on competition content and preparing them for competitions in the categories they are interested in. These categories include marketing, finance, business management and administration, hospitality and tourism, and entrepreneurship. Meetings are held every Monday in Ms. Alveranga’s room A113. Anyone interested in business careers, learning how to manage a bank account, or starting an organization successfully is welcome to join the club. The Google Classroom code is 7fnchyg and the next meeting will be held Monday, October 7th.
