Methacton’s six-member Model UN delegation took home nine awards after competing at the 12th Annual Kutztown Model UN Conference on April 24.

Junior Sarach Kim won Best Delegate in the Genpei Crisis as the Gohei Monks. Everett Weaver, this being his final MUN competition, won Outstanding Front Room Delegate in the Warhammer Crisis as Harr Rantal. Junior Jonathon Bender won Honorable Mention in the Warhammer Crisis as Saul Niborron.

Senior Everett Weaver and Jonathon Bender worked on the Warhammer 40K council; freshman Andrew Brickman and Sarah Kim competed on the Genpei War Crisis council; and freshmen Roman Bustard and George Burkhimer worked on the SOCHMUN General Assembly.

The KUMUNC was the first in two years as COVID restrictions have lightened and produced a smaller number of participating schools than in previous years. Prior to the pandemic, KUMUNC received upwards of six schools per conference, with more than 60 participants. This year, four schools participated.

The seasonal social scene failed to inhibit some of the competitors. Everett Weaver and Jonathon Bender stayed through all of post prom to immediately return for the conference while Sarah Kim and George Burkhimer stayed through part of post prom.
