Student band Contact Light releases new single
March 25, 2022
Coming into the spotlight at MHS is rising student band Contact Light. Made up of high school students, including two from MHS, Contact Light creates a professional sound with their original songs and unique music.
The band features recent MHS alumni Joey Lantonio on vocals and rhythm guitar, Will Johnston on lead guitar, and MHS junior Steven Hoehl on drums. Joey and Steven began working together in late 2020. After some lineup changes, the group of three came together in late 2021, and have been playing together since.
Contact Light has so far released four original singles— and they’ve seen lots of support. Since the release of Paint, their first single, the band has found a large local following and quickly growing Internet community on Tiktok. Their latest single, Arrow, dropped just a few days ago on March 18.
There’s no doubt about the strength of their fanbase: Paint now has over 15,000 streams on Spotify. With a recent Contact Light performance in Phoenixville and more to follow, their fans will also be happy for the chance to see them play these songs live.
And that’s not all fans have to look forward to. These singles set the stage for the upcoming release of Contact Light’s debut album Disconnect. According to Lantonio, the album “really serves as an empathic piece of relation for people who may be struggling with mental health issues and trauma like myself.” Disconnect will feature 11 songs, including the four singles, and will release this year.
Contact Light has shown rapid progress since its beginnings, and a promising future, made all the more impressive by the band’s high school beginnings.
Find their music on Spotify or Apple Music, and follow them on your social media here. And as the band reminds its fans: Stay Connected.
