Three MHS athletes committed to collegiate athletic programs in the fall. Alexa Kratz signed on to American University for field hockey, Serena Goodridge will play softball for Arcadia University and Kevin Trafford will play baseball for Gettysburg College.

Kratz, who scored nine goals and assisted on five others her senior season led the Warriors to a 10-2-3 record and was named to the All-PAC 1st team, All-Area 1st team, and All-State 1st team.

Kratz said her favorite experience as a high school athlete was being a part of the 2017 team her freshman year. That team won the PAC championship.

“It was amazing to see the number of students who filled the stands to show their support for the team that year,” she said.

The future Eagle will major in biology. She chose the Washington, DC school for its exceptional academics and for the impression the field hockey team and its coaches made on her.

“The moment I stepped foot on campus I knew I would be back in a few years. The bond with the coaches and teammates was strong and I felt welcomed in the AUFH family already.  I am grateful to be able to do my favorite thing, field hockey, while being able to study bio, and be in such a cool location of the world. “

Kratz said that while she is excited to have the opportunity to play with new teammates, she said she is nervous about managing her time that will be spread out among games and practices, traveling and taking classes. She knows, however, she will have the support of her teammates to help her through it.

Goodridge’s favorite experiences on the Warrior softball team included the times she got to spend with her teammates. Nothing compared, however, to the time they made the PAC championship game her sophomore year.

“It was an experience like no other. The entire week the whole team came together and became very close. During game time you could feel the energy from the crowd,” she said.

The future Knight will major in psychology with a focus on forensic psychology. She chose Arcadia because of the great culture the softball team has to offer.

Goodridge is most excited about the atmosphere of being a college athlete, but is most nervous about the intensity of classes. She believes that if she has great time management, everything will all work out.

Trafford, who has been named to the All-PAC second team and who has been named an honorable mention to the All-Area team is ecstatic to be able to get out on the field this year with his teammates.

The future Bullet will major in business management and possibly minor in biology. His favorite Methacton moment was his game-winning hit against ORJ to seal the Warriors’ victory his freshman year which put them into the playoffs.

“Being able to be a part of the Methacton historic basketball run last season will be a memorable experience I will never forget,” Trafford added.

He chose Gettysburg because he feels like it is a great fit for him socially, academically and athletically. He added that he will be able to thrive on the field and in the classroom.

“I believe the coaching staff will help me reach my full potential on the field. As for off the field, Gettysburg offers me so many different opportunities academically and will help me when it comes to after college,” he said.

Kevin added that he is most excited to get on campus and experience what it is like to be a part of a college baseball team. He is most nervous to leave the MHS environment.

“Methacton has been great for me in all areas, and it will be hard to leave such a great group of friends, family and teammates.”
